i picked up some nice coins the other day for what I think to be a great price. I dont have much in the way of u.k. coins so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the value of these. they are all single, silver proof coins that come in a nice case. I got a 1 pound from 1983, 1985, 1988, and 1994. I also got a 5 pound 1953-1993 40th anniversary of coronation. they all have relatively low mintages and are still in the origonal plastic case inside the clam case. a few dont have the c.o.a. but I dont think that will decrease the value. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hi...

Here are some August 2010 prices for the £1 coins:

http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/values/decnb.html

and for the £5 (June 2010 prices)

http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/values/deccr.html

Despite me living in the UK, I am a collector of US coins.

Thank you very much. I collect mostly Canadian. But these coins were selling for their weight so I couldn't say no.

The first link is good but the second didn't have my coin. The only 1993 was a proof with gold. Mines all silver. If you know more links please post. If not then don't worry about. I'll keep searching.
Thanks again. This answered 4 out of 5

I thought the 2nd link has your coin:

Silver Proof Issue
Year BU
£5 1990sp 40
£5 1993sp 45

1993 40th Anniversary of Coronation
Obverse: Small portrait of same design as 1960 crown, surrounded by trumpeters and swords. ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID DEF above, FIVE POUNDS below
Reverse: Crown within 40 radially aligned trumpets FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU 1953-1993
Edge: Milled
Proofs were issued in cupronickel, silver and gold.

If you send me a private message, I can point you to another link which will give you an idea of what one reseller sells the coin for.

I just got yelled at. I'm new so I'm not allowed to send you a message. They accused me of trying to circumvent the rules and threatened to lock my account. So if you're not supposed to post it, I'll have to wait a little longer until I'm no longer new.
Thanks though

Didn't mean to get you into trouble and I had forgot about new users not being able to use the private message function.

It's not a big deal. I just have to have a certain amount of posts first. Shouldn't take long.
