I'm thinking your lighting in these is showing a little more than we need to see, i.e., accentuating the flaws a little too much. MS-62.

This would probably be at a min AU-58 and maybe as high as MS-61/62.

Not sure this will help but its in a really old and dirty 2x2.could be some kind of film on it.. I think photo's outside of the holder would get and more accurate results.
I am not the best at this but here goes..added a little contrast to your pics..

It has ms63 details but because of the contact marks and abrasions on the coin it probably wont be graded higher... but its a really nice coin and thanks for the nice pictures to look at. Do you know what the dark marks are. Are they toning or something else or can you tell from behind the plastic.

How I came up with my grade is because I dont see any wear on the cap, hair, or cheeks on the obv, and I dont see any wear on the breast, wings or leaves. The hair has good details and so does the eagle.

If it was me, I would take them out of those old holders put it in some acetone, which wont hurt a thing but take the grime away..it leaves no residue.the holders do look stained my time or moisture or whatever....obviously the date and 2 stars are toning, but its the REV that has the dark areas masking the details of the important parts of the coin for grading purposes....I think thats why the AU to MS grades are being seen...at this point its a sure slider coin

id estimate that the coins have been in the same holders for upwards of 30 yrs... and I'm pretty sure its a bit of water damage/ moisture somehow got to it
