These things happen with ALL the graders I know and to be brief, Conder and SD said it all........ Buy the coin not the slab, but when you feel the need for a TPG, good luck. I like ANACS AND NGC.........To each their own.

I am usually looking at 1878 Morgans in slabs but I have to say I have seen quite a few (more than I would like to see) 1878 8TF Morgans labeled as 7TF and such by NGC here in the past 6 months or so. I can't really make a statement of grade as most of these were seen on the internet but there has been way to many mis-attributed by NGC that I have seen (hate to see how many are out there I haven't seen)

Which brings me back to what I have always said about the TPG's, you must ALWAYS double check attributions especially from PCGS and NGC because they are frequently wrong. Least likely to get an attribution wrong is SEGS.

I agree, if this lowers your opinion on ANACS, there is a topic in the world coin section where PCGS slabbed a fake coin. I have seen 3 counts of this happening by PCGS. And I have seen numerous mistakes by NGC as well, mistakes happen people! If this wasn't a mistake, well then....the seller should be booted.

There is a thread right now with an NGC MS-65 Lincoln Cent Small Date...but the coin is a large date. I've seen these mistakes by all of the TPG's. It happens.
