I know I've said this before, but I hate taking pics of proof coins! I never seem to be able to get them quite right. This addition to my 20th century proof type set arrived today, and looks far better in hand than my picture shows. I'm quite happy with this Barber half!

Here's a coin that I just got in the mail today. As I've discussed before, for my type set I'm also doing things like getting examples from each mint, proof examples, main varieties, etc, etc. I had a P and D mint 1917 Type 1 Standing Liberty quarter, but needed the S mint. I finally found one I was happy with. While this one's not a full head, it's not too far from it, and the shield is nicely defined. My picture doesn't even begin to capture the beautiful luster the coin has. One of these days my photography skills will get better... Here's the TrueView pic, which to be honest doesn't really properly represent the coin either (the toning is actually far lighter and the coin looks white in natural light), but it does show the luster better.

I've wanted a reverse proof Silver Eagle and a nice dealer let me talk him down a little, so now I have a 2013 example:

That's an amazing Reverse Proof...wonder what kept it from a "70"?

This just in! A recent purchase from a CCF member. 1909-S Indian Head centThe dark and light spots are shadows and reflection from the holder prongs. I will need to take better photos if/when I crack this one out and place in the Dansco.
