Excellent purchase to fill in the empty location of the uncirculated sets (that the mint didn't bother producing)
I guess that 1982/3 Philly sets are next?

(I bought 3 sets of these - all 4 P/D - 82/83)

Thanks Errers, Marv, and Dearborn.

It looks like no production records were kept on these souvenir sets. Estimates I've found are 20,000 for the Denver sets, while Philly came in around 10,000 in 1982 and 15,000 in 1983.

Pretty low compared to the 2.9M 1981 Mint Sets and 1.8M 1984 Mint Sets.

So, with collectors wanting to fill that gap, the original price of $4.00 per set was a pretty good bargain for people who stocked up at the Mints. I drove by the Denver Mint in 1982 and wanted to drop in, but my EX wouldn't have anything to do with it. Yeah, that's why I divorced her, LOL.

Mint Sets probably aren't everyone's cup-o-tea

I've never bought any but I have over forty mint sets and proof sets in cellophane packaging that I inherited years ago. I think they are very nice sets.

So did you "upgrade" or just leave an "empty hole" in your album?

I have found that sometimes it's best to leave some holes empty. :-p
