I have a theory that the guitar and harp were caused by multiple clashes with dies rotated slightly between strikes. If this is a strong single string it may help prove it. There may also be 2 and 3 string coins, or not because the chamber may not have had a coin in position for multiple clashes. Now to wait for snail mail.

At any rate for 8 bucks what could you lose ? Probably cost near that much to give it a ICCS label. My kind of price Zonad.

I had bought a similar piece recently and they called it a hanging harp variety.

It is without a doubt a die clash. My theory for the Guitar/Harp varieties is caused by tooling damage. A rake like tool was to scratch off a defect, most likely a clash mark, then was used for striking. The harp was this piece partially abraded away and was used for striking again before being completely removed with more abrasion. The new Charlton Standard Catalogue, 2012 66th ed., shows damage from the same tool on the 1990 bald belly beaver and the 1950 silver dollar at the back of the book.

For sure, yours is a clash and it is not the same direction as the harp/guitar.

I believe that the Harp and Guitar were reportably caused from over polishing of the Dies, the hanging 2 is a definite dieclash (you can see it quite clearly on a good example)
the calsh is from the Queens chin.

Good day. If indeed the single line is in the same diagonal position as the harp and guitar versions, then that can only help endorse your theory of multiple die clashes with rotations. I would guess the line will be weak and short, but that doesn't really matter. The worst case scenario is that you picked up a certified coin for its actual value after all costs are taken into account. We're all looking forward to a pic once it is in your hands. Good luck!

Zonad....

In the end, did you get the one string harp on this one? Here is another one....not a vertical string to be sure, but a different clash than the one earlier in the string.

I thing it's similar to this one. Not what I hoped for, but interesting location for a clash.

Does anyone have a picture of this one string variety ? The ones I've found don't look like the clashes posted above although I have found those on '73s. The 62s l have show a strong string coming off the side of the one going towards the leaf. I will try to get a picture but my camera isn't as good as the ones used for these pics lol
