The 1988 $5 was the first, and it became the "standard size" for aluminium-bronze $5 coins. Any $5 coin in the catalogues that's not bimetallic or precious metal, will probably be this size: Year of Space, ANZAC, Sydney Olympics, etc.

I would like to take the credit. But alas, I can't. Sap is better than me at this game, anyway!

No coin is a bad investment if you like the coin.
I have a heap of UK copper nickle crowns that are virtualy worthless be I like them
i like the look and feel of crown size coins and with my lousy eyesight the bigger the coin the better.
There is nothing wrong with a nice big fat golden looking coin.
Sorry Sel I missread the post
