And our politicians are constantly killin me....
Funny, I watched this fantastic old movie from 1979 called "Being There" which in my opinion is the late Peter Sellers crowing achievement. Even over his Inspector Clouseau which made him famous, via the old pink panther movies....
Check out the wiki on Peter Sellers, he lead a most interesting/troubled life. He died at age 54 in 1980, via heart problems brought on by substance abuse. He could have lived many more years, if he had opted for open heart surgery, which he had finally agreed to do, but alas he died one week before it was scheduled....
Anyhow, he plays this most charming character Chance the gardener who was autistic perhaps, and he had always been looked after by a care taker on a rich estate, and only spoke from what he learned from his favorite thing, television. Anyhow, he gets cast out with no idea where to go after the ones who had always watched over him past on, and by a lucky chance he gets hit by a limo, which contains Shirley Maclane. Anyhow she is connected to powerful people in Washington, and before you know it Chancy Gardener (misunderstanding from Chance the gardener) becomes President of the United states. A fantastic political satire/quirky comedy, with all too true elements then in 1979, that so remind me of today....
Sellers was a genius, take the time to watch this film if you ever get the Chance, you will love it. The quote the president uses from him which catapults him into the next president race is.... That winter comes and things wither. But in the spring we re-plant and things begin to flourish again. Of course he was really referring to a real garden

, and of course America thinks he is using the garden for a metaphor to the current busted economy, remember it was made in 1979, kinda of similar bleak times compared to today....
And the best part is, the dirty political opposition can't dig any dirt up on him, as he does not exist in any records or data bases....
