Thanks mdp, I just got back from a long weekend at camp. From what I have been reading I don't think they will be widows, they will be in the shopping area. !

Y'all need to be genuinely afraid of the shopping available in downtown Philly. If you dare anyway, mention Chestnut and Walnut Streets, downtown.

I don't know if this has been posted on other pages, but what days are you guys planning to be there?

Interesting idea here. I will have to see how the job situation is in August.

Quote: I don't know if this has been posted on other pages, but what days are you guys planning to be there? Bobby/Susan/I, of course, will be there every day. I believe Dave (vermontensium) and a few others who are traveling a distance will be there all week as well. My guess would be that all the more local folks, and the shorter-term travelers, would be planning at worst an appearance on Friday or Saturday. If there's going to be one catch-all, "let's get all of Coin Community in one place for a pic" day, it would be Saturday.

If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Take care of her, Dave.
Perhaps we should devote some effort to providing for the enjoyment of those who are only attending because of their commitment to the spouses whose obsession they tolerate as a "least-damaging" fault....
Philly is an amazingly diverse city. If you want art, there's art. If you want shopping, there's world-class shopping as well as hole-in-the-wall stores. If you want history, well....um....this is where the country was born. If you want to take a 40-mile bike ride while your Significant Other is on the bourse, well, there's that, too.
I'm especially interested in the riding part - if there are takers, I'd be very pleased to do a ride to Valley Forge (anybody remember that place?) with a group - it's about 20 miles one-way and at the far end you get to stand on ground our forefathers walked - and starved - on.

Ha! It's all good Dave ;-) She actually collects too, but more of the modern coins and anything Danish...her heritage. Valley Forge...the sacrifices made there. I ride out here Dave, and would love to make that journey with you and whoever else would like to come along! Can I rent a bike out there? Probably a dumb question. Flying my bike out there is not the problem, it's hauling it around in the rental car. We are both VERY excited about this trip!

BTW, we are getting there a week before, July 30th, and are visiting Gettysburg, D.C., & Atlantic City before the show....don't worry, I'll find the energy ;) We are looking forward to Philadelphia so much, the birthplace of our country

Wow. I only said that as an aside, but I may actually have to organize a ride. If it comes to that, it'll be tentative and based on the weather - Philly can get very darn hot and difficult to hydrate for (be minded of the rusted 1921 Morgan dies), and I won't ride if Camelbacks are required accessories. Be aware, I'm a commuter, not a roadie, and I ride a hybrid. For the last twenty years, which is how long it's been since I've owned a car. The 20 miles to Valley Forge isn't a difficult ride, but it's not a casual one either and you must consider that when deciding. It won't be a road ride, or a road pace - 14mph will do. The whole ride would be on a dedicated, paved bike path, the Schuylkill River Trail (Google it). Dave, it you're serious I will research and choose a couple trustworthy rental outlets for you to pick from. Bobby, be aware you might lose me for a day.
