A 1977-S Proof Eisenhower dollar. It is now impaired, of course. It is the coins closest to when and where I was born, being from the East Bay of CA and born in 1977. I have had it for about 5 years now and carry it most every day.
Excellent choice.

He did say it was an impaired proof, so I have no problem with it.

As I said earlier, I used to keep an Eisenhower dollar on my all the time (granted, it was not a proof). I never kept it in the same pocket with my other change or keys, so it pretty much looked the same when I stopped carrying it around as it did when I started.

*edit*

Just realized I had already responded to this thread. Observe the dangers of posting while enjoying some holiday Scotch. Sorry...

BoomerSoonerOKU, I know how you feel ... my downfall is getting all primed-up for those always-tempting on-line auctions ...

*yikes* => "why did I buy that?"

I don't have a pocket piece, but after reading what EgCollector said in this thread, I'm thinking of carrying around a Two Cent Piece with me just so I can "toss my Two Cents in" when appropriate...

This thread's been up for several days now, and I've given careful consideration to it. No, I never have carried a pocket piece, but if I were to want to ... I wouldn't want it subjected to an inordinate amount of wear, which is what pocket pieces are for I suppose ... but I did think of a workable solution to the problem for those who would like to if it didn't tear up the coin, and if not for fear of losing it.

There are a lot of empty pocket watch cases on ebay. A person could buy one, adapt an airtite to it, and have a coin that you could carry with you, tethered to you by a chain so you would be less prone to losing it, and have it be completely protected. A Morgan dollar in a nickel silver 3/0 watch case would make a great gift for somebody. Pocket watches come in all sizes, even diminutive ones in gold filled cases, that could accomodate a 2 1/2 dollar quarter eagle.

Just a thought.

No pocket coin for me.

For someone who loves coins as much as I do, I can't stand to have change in my pocket.

I know how strange that sounds...

I carry a Norwegian 1995 5-Kroner coin in my pocket for about 10 years. It's a badly toned coin and was surprised how fast the coin got damaged when I first see it. It has a hole in the middle so it makes it fun to show people. :)
