Cas, your verbiage is just fine. Undercut is the same as bidding low. In any haggling one always undercuts the price. If you dont, you are a plain fool.

Now, as I am trying to do a penny book, that would be a coin I would consider. However, it is borderline as to wether I woud like that with the others from that time period I have. Personally I would not pay more than 70 for that particular coin, so starting at 60 and seeing where it goes from there would be my approach. But thats me.

And when it comes to buying something like a coin or any other collector, you can never have too high of a standard. You may have too high of a standard for your wallet, but never too high in general.

Ok I don't want to yet yelled at but I looked up the coin and FMV seems to only be $65.55 in xf and $95.45 in au 50. And from what I have learned in here even those prices are a bit high. So what the seller is claiming is that this coin is closer to Au and not xf. If this was me I would make an offer on this coin around $55.00.

Did you look around to see what other 11-s in xf were asking on e-bay.

Ok I found these on the first page of searching 11-s in xf. I particular like the 11-s raw for the bid of like $12.50. That one gets you some room to bid if you want. Heck I might go after that one for my set.

After reading this entire thread, I would just like to say that on an internet forum such as this sometimes it is difficult to communicate exactly what you mean. Its not the same as face-to-face verbal communication where you can observe facial expressions, listen to the tone of their voice, etc. One wrong word can lead people to misinterpret the whole meaning of your statement, which may lead to deserved or undeserved criticism. Be concise and clear with your wording to minimize misunderstanding. Also, I think it is a good idea not to be to critical of what people first write until you fully understand what they are trying to communicate.

Just one person's opinion.

Well stated beaglebailey and with your sentiment.

I truly admit that my initial reaction to the OP post was a negative one ... the words simply implied rip-off to my simple mind.

Here at the CCF family we know the OP and know that he is just seeking advise on how to bid ... so I reinforce the need to be mindful of the dangers of internet communications ... and give due opportunity for folks to explain their intentions before assuming the worst.
