Personally I prefer provident. Prices usually are better and the shipping cost is lower. APMEX charges 16 dollars to ship even if you just get one thing

In large orders, APMEX is pretty good since the shipping cost is reasonable, but for a small order of say a few hundred bucks, maybe no. But APMEX is also good at pricing if you order 20 or more of an item, and give pretty decent prices. Be sure to also check your local coin shops too. I checked my local shops before ordering and found them to be slightly cheaper than APMEX. this being said, I would go with APMEX for a large order, like of at least 1000 dollars, easily. but thats just my opinion :)

I agree that APMEX is a good vendor if you buy in reasonably large amounts, say 100 oz. or more. The shipping cost is reasonable on a per oz. purchased basis. The thing I like most about APMEX is that they have BU, AU, and XF grade US 90% silver coins for sale and most other vendors do not. All they have are the well circulated coins. I really prefer the XF and higher grade coins. I enjoy looking at nice coins, so that is an aspect of collecting that the circulated coins do not provide. Yes, they cost more but nicer things always do. A really important point here is to visit these web sites often, as they do have specials from time to time that can be really worthwhile. Sometimes it is a type of coin that is hard to find. At other times it is free shipping. It seems as if they often have something to entice customers. If the deal is not of interest, then move on, and look for a deal elsewhere. Do check back often, though, as we never know when a good deal will surface or how long it will last. The best ones usually sell out quickly or might only be offered for a single day.

I'l never use APMEX again. Since they got into bed with ebay they are basically telling ebay what can and can not be sold in exonumia . They want full control over bullion sales and if it's not bullion it gets removed for policy violations that are not even applicable. Their is nothing wrong with selling tokens, medallions and clad items provided they are not counterfit and are listed for what they are.

What about the 10 oz. stackers from Scottsdale Silver? Those seem like a decent value @ what amounts to a little over $3 over spot with shipping using your credit card (it's cheaper by wiring the funds directly). Plus the idea of stacking 10 oz. silver bars is pretty cool too!

In my case it depends on what I'm shopping for. APMEX has a huge selection, and Provident less so. For a few ounces of silver Provident is cheaper, and usually has some sort of free shipping available. But for older 90% silver coin rolls APMEX has the advantage hands down. Large selection. Shopping around as mentioned above is key, and free shipping helps.
