Well, I guess it could be just a deteriorated die strike. However, since the beads/denticles on a 20 rappen from 1934 are noticeably larger than those on a 20 rappen from 1939, I thought that it was possible that part of the die was changed in the middle of 1938 (perhaps when it was noticed that the beads/denticles were starting to creep into the letters?). It sounds as though you would probably have known this if it was true, though. I am just debating whether this is a variety that is worth treating as such. Excuse my ignorance, but what is EDS in this context?
