Oh sorry, that was Joey. I hate it when people hijack a thread. I don't know how I missed that.

So you can email coppercoins.com a photo and see what they say.

Charles's ID is coppercoins too.

oh, ok. thanks.......well I think I'm done stressing out over it. the help that coop has given me is awsome trying to understand. I think I still disagree on the Machine Doubling. but a better pic would help I've ordered a usb microscope camera in hopes of being able to take better pics. in the meantime I've put it back onto ebay startin at a .01 and I'm just not gunna say what it is for sure, then no one can ding me. if any of you want it and get it in hand I would love to know your opinion of it in hand but thanks again for all your help. I will send it to coppercoins.com too just to see what he says.

Which USB microscope did you buy? I've been thinking of getting one some day, since they do take really nice pics and the files are automatically uploaded to your PC, ready to be posted.

I got a cheap one on ebay from china it was like $25 including shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/26086176870....m1439.l2649 this is the one I got, there are tons more from the same seller and others. if it works well and I can see a good reason to upgrade then I'll spend the couple hundren bucks to get a nicer one if need be. but I'm hoping this one will be good enough for my hobbying

The biggest problem with the cheap scopes is the plastic lens they use. If they would give a better eye piece that would be so much better. But I saved my money to get one I really wanted instead of having to settle for less. (I had the cheaper one and was not happy with it and never looked back on them.)

The last image on the ebay image's confirm it is Machine Doubling. Note how the top of the mint mark is pushed and reduced in size? It is even thinner than a normal mint mark. If it were a RPM, it would be enlarged not smaller.

so which one did you end up with?

its funny I've posted that same pic on here but I had traced the red lines around it and put arrow to point out the serifs but I guess that distorted the important details. I do see the damage to the mint mark on the top serif

hmmm.... now I'm gunna have to look at it again.

Congrats on the sale! Your scope does take nice photos. You might need to adjust the lighting or put the camera on a stand to hold it steadier to get a little clearer photos.
