1990 Die Deterioration! - Coin Community Forum

krupski60 Valued Member United States 80 Posts	Posted 01/09/2012 12:36 pm hi all, a nice die crack clockwise from 'TRUST' to 'GOD'. nice extra outline of lincoln face and lots of trailings from face and pm scratches above 'LIBERTY'. incused letters 'IN' reverse shows plating raised above letters even on 'T' in cent and crack. wide columns in monument. un even peddelstals interesting to look at, seeing alot of these markings on early 1990's coins. all opinions welcome. tanks, Report this Post to the Staff

The coin you have is an example of die deteriation which is faily common on Zincolns especially in the 80's & 90's. Still a problem even till to day. You can often see this on the reverse of the LP-1-5's. Just a die worn example and part of the result of a cheaper way to make dies/coins. Report this Post to the Staff
