"...with just enough money to buy, a license to chill..." License to Chill--Jimmy Buffett "...caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow, five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chain..." Who'll stop the Rain--Creedence Clearwater Revival "...and so my fine fellows if you would enlist ten guineas in gold I will stick in your fist, and a crown in the bargin for to kick up the dust and drink the king's health in the morning.." Arther McBride--Bob Dylan "...once upon time you dressed fine, threw the bums a dime, in your prime..." Being that Dylan wrote about 2 million songs(it only seems like that since he put over 400 to vinyl) it's no suprise that a few were about money!!! A prolific and great song writer indeed!!!One of my favorites...Mike

Les Miserables- "Master of the House": "Master of the house, keeper of the zoo! Ready to relieve them of a sou or two!" How's that for obscure currency references? Rachel [:p]

Ooooh, now that might be fun! How about this: "...Henry said don't you mess that pile, had three aces and he had five..." Sailor's Lament--Creedence Clearwater Revival

Kyra, Do you ever watch Seinfeld reruns on T.V.? There is an episode where Les Miserables is stuck in Georges brain and he can't stop singing those lyrics! Very Funny episode. Mike

I did watch Seinfeld sometimes but I don't remember that episode. I can certainly relate though, I've been walking around for the past few days with "Phantom of the Opera" songs stuck in my head- great movie, BTW- but none of the songs mention coins or currency.

Whilst I often dream of money (or the lack thereof), I seldom think about songs related to money. For the past couple days, the silly song, I'm Henry The Eighth I Am has been running through my mind and it just won't go away. Since the second verse is the same as the first, I can testify that it has no mention of coins nor any other form of money except marriage to the widow next door who probably cost Henry VIII a LOT of money.

Not a song, but:
Coin Poems
Penny Penny, easily spent, Coppery brown and worth 1 cent.
Nickel Nickel, thick and fat, You're worth 5 cents, I know that!
Dime, Dime, little and thin, I remember, you're worth 10.
Quarter, Quarter, big and bold, You're worth 25 cents, I'm told.
Half-a-dollar, Half-a-dollar, giant size, 50 cents to buy some fries.
Dollar, Dollar, green and L-o-n-g, Worth 100 cents, you can't go wrong!!!
