Seems that posting links from here is prohibited from being posted over at coin talk. Try it and see what happens.

Unfortunately, links can't be sent via PM there either. The PM comes back with all information deleted. I'm not sure why Peter feels the way he does about links to other forums from his site, but fortunately, Stujoe Coin People Forum and secretsquirrel Aussie Coin Forum don't feel the same way. I think that sharing members over multiple forums is better for the members and better for the forums. It's better for the members because they have multiple sources of information, and it's better for the forums to keep ideas fresh and the membership healthy for all of the forums involved.

Gee, I thought all that "stuff" had gone away. I think the Links are great and add to the forum in a big way! Mike

Things were not always like this. At the end of last year, people were still able to post links to other forums (and many members did). I saw a number of links to the PCGS forum and Coin People. At one point, a member was encouraged to advertise his own forum in the "Advertising" section of CT. Just gotta roll with the changes...

It would appear that a few over at CoinTalk admit they pad their shipping fees and seem to be ok with it. They keep comparing it to Wal-mart and about don't like it, don't bid. I tried to explain that it is wrong but they don't seem to care. David

The funny thing is that the post you're talking about was left there with the link for a long time (I'm pretty sure it was still there when I left in January.) If you notice, in the original thread, GSJMSP (a moderator over there) posted right after you and National Dealer, who started this thread, was also a moderator at the time. No one felt the need to pull it until early this year. It seemed that it was when I left that all links to other forums were pulled and no one was allowed to post any more.
I think it's foolish and unfair to the members there, as they are not being given as much information as they could be getting. Let's face it, no one forum is able to answer all questions. The more viewpoints available, the better.

I am not sure when it was removed but you are right that it was up for a long time. I noticed it by chance one day as I was looking on google for sites that had my site mentioned. Some time between that post and now, I stopped being an Educational Numismatic Website.

Don't feel bad, Stu. According to posts at CT, Coin Community is not JUST a forum due to the fact that we also advertised our own items for sale to try to pay for it. Guess we're not educational either!

I was not aware that CT had altered any of this. I lost my internet from mid-Feb to mid-Apr thus it looks like the period of change was during my absence. When I returned the whole place had changed!
I still visit there occasionally, but post seldom, simple fact is there's very little in the World forum to keep me there. Usually it just ends up being a conversation between me, GD and Aidan. Which I figure is kinda pointless cos we aren't really learning anything new or spreading education all that far. Since the three of us know pretty much what we're on about anyhow and we could really do it all in PM and not much would be lost.

Here is the link to the thread: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread....=6897&page=4Since I have made my statements regarding shipping/handling policy, I'm not going to comment further, but I think it is important for people to read this in order to understand (though not necessarily agree with) the reasons why some people pad their s/h charges. This link goes directly to the fourth page. You may want to read the earlier posts also.

Well like it or not we all are buyers and sellers unless you are really lucky at finding high grade coins with a metal detector? We buy to support our hobby and many of us sell to put a few dollars back into the old hobby chest! I like things just the way they are as I would rather buy from a "friend" here than a total stranger ant time!Quite honestly I have about had my fill over at CT for various reasons and have found MY home and NEW friends right here! Now if I can just stay out of trouble?

Trust me if there's anyone inept enought to get himself into hot water on forums and be chased out with pitchforks and torches then it's me...
Three things, don't get me started on slabbing, commemoratives or toning and we'll get on just fine! :-)
(I will decline from getting into such tricky entanglements if I can help myself!) ;-)
