According to the RCM web, this coin can only be ordered by phone now. I'm wondering if it's near the sold-out at the mint? 19 days since it went public. Edited by Amaths

what's the point of "order by phone only"? to slow down the sale? or keep representitives busy?

my suspicion is that the web system is not synchronized with inventory. the rep can make sure they really have what you want.

a friend of mine was able to place an order via the web in the late afternoon of Feb 16. now not sure if it will be processed or what. if the coin status does not change to sold-out very soon, there is still a chance. otherwise don't know what would happen.

dodola, which review are you referring to? As I've yet to receive mine, I scanned the reviews left on the site and found no reference to it being sold out.
if you're referring to the 77th review left by Canadian Coins, the reviewer is stating his belief it will sell out not that it has.

The beauty of staying in touch with a forum. If you take a week break without checking in, a new coin could be released an sold out before you know it even happened.
I am surprised the Mint doesn't just say "sold out" on the webpage.

Just a thought, but perhaps the Mint is trying to get more people to sign up for the next 2 releases.

That makes sense. But they are going to be sold out anyways.Why bother? To set a record? Hope they don't simply double the mintage.

I think they understand what happens when you double the mintage. They are more likely to come out with more designs than increase mintages with this set. They are already coming out with 3 this year. By coming out with another design this year; theoretically, they increased their yearly mintage from 500,000 to 750,000.

If I had to choose between two evils I would take more releases than increase mintage.
