Hey Guys,

I just picked up a 1888 Prussian 10 mark gold coin in AU-50 for a little over bullion value. I have read that the coin is a minor rarity and somewhat desired by collectors due to the fact that it is a one year only issue, but I cant seem to find an exact value for it. Can anyone confirm whether or not this coin holds much numismatic value over bullion?

Hi,

There are actually two different Prussian 10 marks for 1888 but I assume you mean the Freidrich III one. It may have been made for only one year - but they did make quite a lot of them (876,000) and they don't bring in much more than bullion - regardless of condition. I even have one myself as it was cheaper to get a gold coin of this emperor than the silver 5 mark.
