Awesome find! That is a very high grade for an old nickel like that.

The obverse looks AU and the reverse looks EF.

I'd say it's AU53 with the much more common ty 2 reverse ( steps of 1940 ) The reverse was upgraded and therefore the better step details. Nice find!

I love when I find a nickel with steps, especially a classic like that!

I'm gonna go with AU-53 on this one.

Great find! AU. Great details with few hits and minimal wear. Steps are almost full. Very nice!

thanks for the opinions all! I know this isn't worth a lot - one of those coins I'm happy to add to my collection but also one that i'd never actually buy at a show or online.
