It is a miracle that at least some of the previous images have not survived. It may be worth examining with a 20 x loupe over all of the coin, to find remains of previous images. You may need a digital microscope to get any such images to the screen. A digital microscope can be purchased for as little as 90 dollars. Report this Post to the Staff

The ridges medial to the definitive design rim are probably due to a little bit of die instability. The presence of a misaligned die error supports this conjecture. Error coin writer and researcher.
