Can anyone recommend a reputable dealer in the Puget Sound area? I am new and would like to pick up a couple of supplies (magnifying glass and flashlight), as well as find someone who might be a good person from whom to purchase coins when I am a bit more knowledgable.

Cheers,
Mark

I don't know anything about your area, but welcome! Also, I don't think a flashlight is the best way to illuminate your coins for viewing. I would recommend an incandescent or halogen desk lamp, preferably both (though not at the same time).

welcome, I have only been to three different coin shop in the seattle ar, really they are north of seattle. I didn't collect coins other then just mint stuff tell last year. So when I lived there I didn't collect. SO here are the three I have been to.

Accent on Coins they are in Everett- they have a nice selection alittle overpriced but some nice coin and nice people.

Stamp & Coin Place in Mt.Vernon this is the best of the three I went to

Coin Market LLC Lynnwood I have not been here but heard they were good.http://www.coinmarket.biz/about_firm.html

I have not been to any on the eastside but heard there are some good one. I do think we have another member for the seattle are that might be able to help more,

here is another website that might help http://www.pnna.org/
if I here of any good ones I will let you know.

Welcome to our forum family! As far as Puget Sound, nope sorry can't help you there. As for illumination I personally prefer natural daylight especially for dig pics and a 5X minimum or 10X for up-close viewing for errors and condition. I use a back-light for viewing at nighttime and avoid glare as best I can.

Thank you one and all for the warm greeting. Clearly this is a helpful and supportive community.

And I very much appreciate the insights on magnification and lighting, and most particularly the tips on places to go up North. Could be worth the trip as I have not found anything promising nearby.

Cheers,
Mark
