Hi, I am super puzzled about a coin I have. Originally, I thought it was a 1795 plain edge large cent, liberty cap. The place where the cap was, is super worn off but the eyes, nose, and a little bit of the hair still has great detail. The date is legible except the last number. If you hold it under direct light, you can clearly see the 5 in 1795. However, the hair is not flowing. The hair is that of a draped bust. There are no stars, just like a 1795. However, that hair wasn't introduced until 1796. The small part of the cap/bow that is still visible, looks like it could be either one. I don't understand how it could have tributes of two different dates and coins. Please help me find out what I have!

Welcome to the forums! It would probably be best if you posted a photo of the coin because this will really help with attribution, especially considering that this is a coin with many varieties.
Rest in Peace

Welcome aboard. Attributing coins, sight unseen, is difficult. Kindly post a pic.

From the limited info you've given us, I would guess your coin is a 1796 Draped Bust Large Cent.

I finally figured out how to upload pics! Sorry for the delay.

The pics colors have been edited to get the best view possible. My camera isn't the best, so these images are a little more clear to the naked eye.

In this one, I put the '5' from a 1795 liberty cap next to it for comparison. If you were to rotate it a bit, you'd see what I mean.

I'll have to do some checking, but I think you are looking at a 1797. I'll try and narrow it down a little more but it will take a little time.
