paid $10 delivered, looks much better in hand where it shows lustre, than in the scans. I think its at least ef or a bit better, just a few bags marks other wise no wear.

You have described this coin exactly as I would have done.

aEF,
Some wear on the high points of the Queens headband and the lions shoulder/haunches.
Unless this was scanned through a 2x2 there area few too many marks on the coin especially to in the LI of AUSTRALIA to be just bag marks.
These florins were prone to "marking up" due to the large feild area of the design.
Nice coin
Most of the 1951 and 1954 commemorative are being sold as bullion latley.
I have quite a few in my bullion bin.

I would grade this as EF - nice coin erkle! The 'bag marks' are not all that deep and dont detract much. It is a good strike around lizzies ear and hair.

These and the 1951 commemorative florins are nearly always found in good shape, probably due to people hoarding them.
They are a relatively low mintage florin at 2,000,000 each (according to my 2011 rennics book) I find it hard to understand why they are not a more valued coin.
The 1927 parliament house coin has increased in value over the last couple of years and they have the same mintage numbers.
It may be because of the silver content in the 1927 coin as it is Stirling silver where the 51 and 54 coins are 50% silver.
Never the less they are nicely designed coins and in my opinion should be more valuable than they are at the moment.

,Dealers scoff and have placed them in the same category as Captain Cook for decades but they are in demand nowadays,Ebay prices have been steadily rising over the past 2-3 years to the point where an average coin is now close to $10.I still buy them for $5 or less but every Month there are less & less available.
