I don't think I posted before but I mainly collect antique swords. I have US and British pieces from the Revolutionary war, civil war swords 18th and 19th century Japanese and plenty more. I think right now I have 22 or so.
I also am a part-time military antique dealer and have acquired some amazing items like a personally carried map case that flew on the bomb drop on Nagasaki to uniforms and medals of colonels, generals and even the deputy secretary of defense from the 1970s.

Should have added to my concert tickets: weird socks, and all kinds of earrings.

Postcards, from my hometown mostly, like CoinHawkeye, although I pick up some from other towns in the area occasionally as well as a couple of towns in a part of Illinois where I grew up. Surprisingly cheap hobby and it's pretty cool to see what the places looked like over time. I've even got some framed on the walls.
Outside of that and some gardening there isn't really much as far as hobbies here, at least nothing like everyone else it seems. There have been some pretty cool hobbies I've seen in this thread, really great idea.

I collect just about anything, but the biggest ones would be baseball cards, interesting rocks, and can tabs( I put them in old glass Coke bottles, decorate them, and put them on display on my bookshelf). I have thousands of can tabs in 3 or 4 bottles.

I collect the following: -Coins (of course!) -Guns -Keys -Bottle caps -Law enforcement collectibles -Handcuffs -Shot glasses -Wooden boxes (I was surprised to see this on others' lists... I thought I was the only person who likes these!) -Pets (I have 2 cats, 2 dogs, 5 ferrets, 3 snakes, 2 fish tanks and a betta bowl) And these (which I'm sure no one else here collects): These are animal figurines made by a company called Schleich. They are super detailed and I really like them for some reason. I have spent a TON of money on them as each figure costs about $6.00.

I collect coins & silver, and I buy & sell sports cards and memorabilia. I guess I "collect" whatever I don't sell. But every 6 months or so I just clean everything up in one lot and sell it all!

Hm, DobermanOwner, it only takes ONE determined ferret to take on a Doberman. Poor dog must be crazy with five.
I've never met a wooden box that I didn't like.
Red Rose Tea, a company in Canada, years ago enclosed a small animal in each box. Made by "Wade" in England. When I find all of my duplicates I'll keep you in mind.
I mostly collect antique dust. It creates a protective surface over all of the clutter.

matthewvincent,
I have two dobies, one that likes ferrets and one that doesn't. Cody, my 7 year old, picked his favorite ferret and plays with her all the time. He has ignored the other four for so long that they don't pay any attention to him. Its adorable watching them play... she likes to bite his lips and chin to see how long she can hang on before he rolls on the ground to get her off. Then he nibbles her all over until she squeeks. Its cute!
My other dobie, Cooper (who is 2) is TERRIFIED of them. He hides in the corner and shakes when they are out in their room. The ferrets, of course, think that this is funny and try to attack him. One time Cooper even started yelping because one was jumping on his back.
And everyone thinks Dobies are such brave dogs... pfft! :P
