Harmonica, thanks for the bump be glad to share.

I collected coins in high school 20+ years ago and then life happened.
fell away from it, got into other interest after college and marriage.

I have a large collection of Japanese military rifles.
I still enjoy looking, but the hobby has slowed down for me since all my safes are full and I basically ran out of room.

I'm an amateur historian for the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment of WWII.
My avatar is of the 462nd Parachute Field Artillery Bn. they were attached to the 503rd during WWII.
So I study them pretty hard too.

Since I do enjoy studying the Pacific aspect of WWII hence my love of Japanese and the 503rd, which fought in the Pacific. One real cool note of collecting I have is 503rd Vet bring backs that are Japanese related.
Enough of that.

Gas Masks.
I love them, my wife hates them.

I collect Japanese (WWII only) and US Military gas masks and accessories from any time period. I'm really getting into decontamination kits right now. Here is a WWII kit upgraded in the 1950's for a few new chemicals. This kit is 100% and finding anything 100% from WWII with lots of little piece and parts is tough.

I just picked up a real cool mask from the 90's.
An Apache Helicopter flight gas mask with complete case and accessories....
I could go on and on and on

Just saw this topic 'gillie', going through your list:

Remnants of a stamp collection still hang around.
The odd bank note as well.
A small selection of different playing cards.
A few dozen matchboxes.
Accumulation of CDs/DVDs (games, movies, music).
Also have half a dozen bibles (the oldest from the 19th century), which fits into my second largest collection:
books.

That is really cool One50, do you collect Occupied Japan goods too by any chance? They would seem to be right up your alley. Here is an article I wrote on why I collect Occupied Japan.

I never learnt a whole lot about the Pacific's role in WW2 other then the Japanese in Hawai'i and Alaska. I read more into Europe and North Africa.

Coin collecting has led me into other collections, even though these have nothing to do with coins:

-fossils
-meteorites

I only have a couple of each.

I also have 6 lizards, but I refer to them as my 'babies'. They came 12 years before coins.

I would love to have an ancient artifact someday, but that is far far away.

My brother and I have surface hunted local plowed fields for hours on end since we were kids, but all our favorite sites are now either developed, turned into horse pasture, or picked completely clean of even the chips and fragments.

Those are some awesome arrowheads, Silveryears! I would like to get some.

I don't think there is a place anywhere near me where I could go hunting. That would be really fun to do!

I would really like to have something from the Holy Land around the time Christ was on the earth.

I thought I'd give this thread a 'bump' by showing one of my other collections - diecast model buses! I have been collecting these for about 10 years, and try to limit them to buses that operate or operated in my local area. Luckily I know someone in the trade who is often able to get new models at cost price, and my brother usually gives me a bus for Christmas and Birthday presents!

Parking Violations.

The only thing I collect right now are coins, but I am also getting interested in post cards. Can't explain why.
