Hi there. I was listing some coins from a box, and I came across this one, ebay and google had such a wide spread on value, I thought I would ask: What would be a Fair price for this coin?
Personally, I do not like the scratches but unclear if that effects it sale ability.
Well, it's a low mintage coin, only 752K, and it should grade at least an F, perhaps even VF. Scratches unofortunately do affect the price, looks like they could be from an improper cleaning? Anyway, I would say it should fetch about $25-$30.
Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert on this, just giving my opinion.
NGC shows a mintage of 752K and a value of VG-8 $10.00 and VF-20 of $65.00. Melt value today would be $4.85. A very nice coin minted during the period of the Peninsular War. Personally, I would keep rather than sell.
Great coin you have there. I would probably grade it as good VF. The scratches are no post-mintage damage but they have been made to the flan before it has been struck. The flan was too heavy and they had to remove a little bit of material. This is of course not a quality but does not excessively affect the value of the coin.
