Kingdom of Hawaii coronation medal. This specimen is in my collection.

This is King Kalakaua's calling card. The King followed the Victorian etiquette of "pour prendre conge" (lower left bottom initials P.P.C).

I gifted this card to the 'Iolani Palace as to expand their collection. The curator indicated to me that there was none in their collection and I simply had to donate my specimen. A donor board in the palace now has the name of my wife and myself.

I may donate the coronation medal after a few years in my collection...

Hello, I have no way to ask about information of this medal so I find this thread and hope someone still have a look on it.

Can anyone tell this coronation medal for Edward VIII of UK is real or a fantasy issue?

Edward VIII abdicated his reign to his brother George VI. The date of coronation was still remained May 12 1937 at Westminster Abbey.

Could this displayed medal be an invalidated issue after Edward VIII decided to abdicate so it was a real issue but the commemorative event had never happened.

Absolutely genuine Henry. There are many types but all were issued before the coronation that didn't happen.

Union of England and Ireland, 1801, BHM 523 by Kuchler, 47mm, 53.8gms. Whether this medal is gilt copper or gilt silver is not clear. I'd be interested in the weight of any copper or silver example someone might have.

In 1759, this medal was issued to celebrate the future George III's Age of Majority. By T. Pingo, 55mm in bronze (Eimer 666, MI ii 698/428)
