That company has gotten all of the fees they will get from me. The last month I was actively selling there, when junk silver had really spiked, my fees were $1,700+.... ebay has free listings for the 1st 50 coins a month. The final value fee is 9%. Paypal is 2.9% + 30c. Not as bad as you said but still brutal. |

 fees are circa 12% total. (E-Bay/Pay-Pal) This one is definitely A 1970S Large Date Cent! "Caveat Emptor!"- Do your homework! |

Well, here's an interesting twist. I brought it up with the seller and was immediately threatened with being reported for harassment. I guess lots of people have been telling them about their bad luck. Then they re-listed the coin for $75... ebay has been informed. |

And NGC's price guide lists a coin in the same grade as being worth only $42. That is really bizarre that NGC doesn't know what a 1970 S SD is. Someone needs to contact NGC about it. ebay won't care, since they will only agree with the slab. ebay is not a coin dealer and wouldn't know the difference. Are you sure NGC's verification photo shows a LD? That date area is very small to make the call--for me. I did notice that between the ebay coin and the NGC coin, the coin is rotated differently in the holder.  Obviously the coin is a LD, and the seller is ignoring that fact.  |

Am I missing something? No you're not. As I have said for years, never trust the attributions given by the top TPG's, they are frequently wrong. PCGS tends to be the worst followed by NGC. The BEST TPG for attributions is SEGS followed by ANACS and then ICG. As for NGC having to make it good by buying it back or replacing it, NOPE. NGC does not guarantee their attributions, so he is stuck with it and he is trying to stick someone else with it. Someone who has too much faith in the TPG's. (Surprisingly PCGS DOES guarantee their attributions!) |

Jayman, nice. Somebody paid $24.48 too much.  Auctions like these are plainly obvious, since it takes just 10 minutes of online research or asking questions here to learn the difference--caveat emptor. |

I agree that some people will only buy a slabbed coin, because they feel that the "authentication was done" and they can now blindly just buy the coin. This coin, to anyone having the interest in it should know exactly what they are buying, themselves, and NOT depend on others to let you know what grade your coins are, or if the coin is actually what the label states it is........This is in NO way an attack on any person, this is just my experienced honest opinion........An education is a very powerful tool in life... :) PS, This is no doubt a large date Cent.... When both ends of the 9 are pointed, it is for sure, a small date Cent......

Unquestionably a Large Date. The photo on NGC's website, while a little fuzzy, confirms it. At least the seller has a seven day return privilege.
