I went the bank yesterday and when I got home I check out my change and this what I found.
I looks to me like there was an extra ear lob or just copper left on coin before it went in to circulation.
But I am no expert, lets let the experts Tell me what this coin is?

I would also guess the family of die chips, although this actually looks to me like a die gouge. Cool coin. G.L. Gusp

I don't think that it looks like a piece of copper was left when it was minted and just bent over as it was used.

If anything it's either a die gouge or a die crack. It's not a doubled die either way. The 1997 doubled ear is a doubled die which is what makes it valuable.
