Silverhawke,

You just need to accept the fact that this seller (and those like him) are not offering good deals. 100 modern clad quarters in generic slabs have a face value of $25 and not much more to a collector. Even the proofs carry only a slight premium over face value unless they really are graded by a reputable TPG and are graded at PR70. It really looks like all this guy is doing is taking plain vanilla coins and sticking them into his own slabs.

Believe me -- this guy knows exactly what coins he is offering for sale and there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that there are any hidden gems in the pile.

Hmmmmm...

Can I interest you in some "unsearched" rolls of wheat pennies? Just give me a few minutes to assemble them. You never know -- I could accidentally stick in a 1909S VDB...

Its all good Barry, you live you learn it didn't sink me. The kid on the way should cover that over the next 20 years plus, lol....

What do you think of toning out of curiosity, I think I may have grabbed a piece you may think closer to a bargain then the above quagmire.....

I think the toning looks nice, but now that I know how easy it is to artificially tone coins I never know if a toned coin is natural or not.
Rest in Peace

The same is true for me with all the blast white 120 +/- year old coins. My grandmothers' silver flatware always re-toned (tarnished) after the annual pre Thanksgiving dinner cleaning.

From reading the auction, it looks to me like it's going to be a random selection, not exactly the ones you see pictured there. So squinting trying to see what's in the pic isn't going to do any good.

I wish you luck, and do post up with the results, good or bad. I'll be rooting for you either way.

Sometime, it doesn't hurt to have some hope, as long as you know it's your hope and reality can be otherwise.
We all work and live on hope/expectation of a better future!

Good on you Silverhawk, Nothing like a bit of a gamble.
as I live in the middle of nowhere all my coin purchases are via the Internet and every time I make a purchases there is an element of gambling there.
Worst case scenario for you will be you get a heap of pocket change for your $80 But you never know you may get some awesome coins as well
I truly hope you do, Good luck to you mate

WORST BUY I EVER MADE! Hate to say it, but oh how right was Barry, lol....

I would have let it all slide, if it had even been nice modern day cameo items, in decent holders.

My problem, crooked coins in slots, upside down, black mark on penny's that are 3 years old, looks more baggy then coins from the turn of last century, rof.....

Cracked cases, cut Styrofoam that looked as if a five year old cut it with his kinda-garden scissors.....

The BEST numismatic items, was one 1974 Cameo quarter, a decent Buffalo nickel from 30's, and a handful of decent wheat penn'y from the 50's. Oh an four steel Wheat penny's, that were rusted out, I kid you not I can post pics of this nightmare, but it is too ugly, lol....

Now then the fun part, rof....

I sent seller a rough email and told him I was a NEW sort of secret shopper from ebay an had the authority to bid on what ebay and I deemed shady, an he better refund my money asap, to avoid his worst neg to date, an a big fat red tape case opened up on him. Tiny white lie, he seemed to buy it hook, line an sinker, just like the idiot typing this message. I may have well just fell for the ol Nigerian scam, an sent some guy around the world five hundred bucks, so he could send me my millions I just won, rof....

He since refunded my money, WITH an extra six bucks as requested to ship this mess back to him. I got real lucky, DON"T make the same mistake.....

I did find another guy who sells similar lots, but he guarantees gold coin or nugget, silver, a proof set from a random year, and a nice slabbed grade from reputable dealer. I will not buy any more of these, but I checked his feed-backs, an all who was buying them loved the lots, an he has sold many of them, but I am just to weary now. If I can't see what I am getting, just not interested anymore....

Well, I appreciate the posting, Silverhawk - I'll learn from your mistake and resist the temptation to EVER try this.
I probably wouldn't have anyway, but now for certain I won't.

Silverhawk,
THANK YOU for posting the results and please, if you can find the strength, post photos. Either way, consider it a valuable public service. I'm glad you received your money back. You'll need it. One of the few things with early financial returns worse than those slab lots is called...a kid.
