When you know the branch manager's hours so you can avoid her because she is tight with the coins.
I have never found a place where I fit in better than this.

This is definitely one of my favourite threads Makes me feel a little more normal knowing I'm not the only one. Keep it up please!

Someone is leaving work and you have a quick look through the donated present money and swap a nice 20c for a normal 50c.

You're tempted to go up to armored trucks and ask for coins. However, you soon realize they'll probably give you lead instead of silver!

You look for sources to get large amounts of coins... Another Aussie posted recently about sorting and bagging coins for his local Laundromat (while searching the coins of course).

... When you spend time that could be better spent elsewhere, reading every single post, in a topic that doesn't quite match one's own craziness/addiction, and remembering the time, more than 50 years ago ...
asking a store clerk to trade twenty-five pennies for twenty-five pennies ...
Not the same as roll searching but equally bizarre behavior.

When you have your girlfriend lecturing her other co-workers how to check for wheat pennies and silver in all of their tip jars for me at dunks! Hahah she's a keeper alright.

When you walk into the bank and you're known as the coin kid. Also they know my mom too, and they got me some 2012 pennies which are the last year for the pennie. Its nice that they look for stuff for me.

... while you're grabbing munchies from a student club's honor system snack sales, you swap additional dollar bills into the locked box for the cents, nickels, foreigns, etc. that are in the change bin.
... you plunk quarters into vending machines and push the coin return button in hopes of getting a bicentienial

When you offer your friends and coworkers a slower free version of coinstar. Had a friend who's dad gave me this huge 5 gallon tar pail, full of change. Give him his money in paper with a few loose change after I counted it up. I love those. Maybe this will be a new fad. Coin Jar Hunting. I was tempted to advertise it, but I'd figured I'd run into someone who'd LOVE to use me as a dump, probably one of you guys. :P
