I get most of my coins in bags from the coin counter at my local bank. The bags are always short $1 - $3 regardless of whether they are pennies or nickels - I can't afford the $1,000 bags. I can tell when I add up my deposit slips because I know how mcuh I kept out. I don't mind the shortage. Now, if I were to tell my wife the bags are always short, she would threaten to cut me off.

Bank fees? No way! They are messing with me on interest rates. They are sitting on taxpayer bailouts. THey are evil greedy entities and are a major reason why this country is going under economically.

Then stop patronizing them and go to a credit union.
I have been very happy with mine for over 25 years now. Lower interest on loans, higher interest on deposits, and no bailouts. Plus, you get to vote for the board.

I have been with a CU for over 20 years, works great.
My home loan with BofA was nothing but trouble.
I didn't start out with BofA. When they bought our loan holder I was pretty sure what was coming. And I'm not even psychic.

Yeah, I know... I have accounts at 2 different CU's but they will not order coin. Do any of them? So, I use them for dumping. I'm stuck ordering at banks. I hold accounts at 6 banks and CU's.

I see you have a list of your finds in your signature.  Match those finds against any fees you have at the banks. When those fees start to outweigh the finds, then you know it is time to retire from roll hunting. Keep in mind that bank costs will only worsen; the golden era is coming to a close. It is sad to think about, but at that point it is inevitable.  |

Keep in mind that bank costs will only worsen; the golden era is coming to a close. It is sad to think about, but at that point it is inevitable. I incur fees and fuel costs. I usually break even. I have been wanting to start up roll hunting again, but I do not think it will ever be like it was for me fifteen years ago. For now, I live vicariously through you guys, enjoying every find. I do hope that the inevitable end comes much, much later, rather than sooner.  |

I use US Bank for supply, but haven't heard about the fee yet...I usually don't have them order specifically for me, but call the day before and ask for the amounts I want ($25 pennies, 100 nickels, 250 dimes) and they pull them together for me. I usually see the same bank only once every 2 weeks, and this has worked so far...hope to NOT hear about that surcharge any time soon!

I live in Oregon and US Bank charges me 3.50 for a 50 dollar bag. Cheap entertainment.

Has anyone looked into buying wrapped coins directly from Brinks or some other supplier? I would be curious to find out really how much they charge for that service.
