Quote: Captain Frank and some of the boys were exchanging old war stories. Art Bragg offered one about how his grandfather led a battalion against a German division during World War I. Through brilliant maneuvers he defeated them and captured valuable territory. After the battle he was presented with a sword bearing the inscription "To Captain Bragg for Bravery, Daring and Leadership. World War I. From the Men of Battalion 8." Captain Frank looked at Art and said, "You really don't expect anyone to believe that yarn, do you?" What's wrong with the story? Same as finding a coin with "BC" date on it. At the time they didn't know it would be called WW1 yet.

if you had 1989 dollars and added one dollar, you would get 1990 dollars. So 1989 dollars is worth less than 1990 dollars (quantity not years).

CORRECT FUZZY! Good job! I bet a lot of us were thinking those numbers were years, not the quantity.

Quote: C. (A variation of above) A troop of soldiers came to the river, and two little boys were fishing on a dingy. The vessel is so small that it can carry only two boys or only one adult.
How can the troop get to the other side of the river? OK.... how about this. One boy goes over in the dingy to the soldiers while the other stays on the shore. The boy gets out and 1 solder gets in and paddles to the other shore. The other boy gets in and goes to the other bank with the remanding solders. OH OH.... I sure hope there is ONLY guy in that troop because now I am stumped.

How can the troop get to the other side of the river? It just crossed my mind that these soldiers might be ants. If so, then all the ants could cross over in the dingy with the boys. This one is driving me nuts!

X = bail of hay _ = 1 foot H = horse I = pin rope is tied to H_______________I__________X____end of rope Horse can walk 15 feet either way, hay is 10 feet from post horses 15 foot rope is tied to. Horse is far as he can be from hay at 25 feet. All he has to do is walk to post and 10 feet to the hay.

How can the troop get to the other side of the river? steps: 1. the two boys row to the far shore 2. one boy rows back to near shore 3. one soldier rows to the far shore 4. one boy rows back to the near shore repeat steps 1-4 until troop is across the river

Fuzzy. I get it now. GEEZ! I thought Svslav was going to have to send me a drawing.
I am worn out. Glad it wasn't me that had to cross that river. I would have just said "forget it! I will stay on this side".

stevex6 saw immediately that both Cajun and Moe were wearing white hats, and that they both looked just as baffled and confused as he felt. For three minutes, no-one spoke. Then, stevex6 yelled out "hey jbuck, I'm wearin' a white hat!" WHY? => JUST BECAUSE! We know from stevex6's point of view that there are at least two white hats, because both the hats he sees are white. That means that there are two possibilities. 1. There are two white hats and stevex6 is wearing a black hat, or ... 2. There are three white hats and stevex6 is wearing a white hat. => Oh, and I forgot to mention => nobody else heard jbuck whisper to stevex6 "The one clue I will give you is that the hats are not all black" ... So, if anybody could see two black hats, it would be obvious that his own color was white, and he would have quickly answered. If anybody could see one black and one white, and was wearing black, then the one wearing white would see two black hats and quickly answer. If anybody could see one black and one white, and was wearing white, and no-one quickly answered, then he would know that no-one could see two blacks, so he must be wearing white, and he could quickly answer. But no-one said anything, so there wasn't a logical answer. The only possible reason for the silence was that everyone was wearing a white hat, so stevex6 told jbuck that the correct answer is => WHITE ... ummmm, what? ... is that cheating!? Man, even when I try cheating, I can't figure it out ... *sigh*

its a kind of "leap frog" 2 boys over(far), 1 boy back(near), 1 soldier over(far), 1 boy back(near). That repeats for each soldier until last stage has soldiers far, boys near.

I am going to just have to take your word for it, Steve. Even after reading it, I don't understand the reasoning behind it. Good thing we don't have to figure out stuff like this before we buy coins, huh?
