Thanks oih82w8! "Coin Prices" values a 1939 D MS 60 Type I at $75 and a Type II at $55. There is a Rim ding at 11.00. IMHO the overall luster has good eye appeal and the toning is rainbow(y). Does this coin approach a $55-$75 value? If so I may have purchaced it at a great price  |

I would probably knock it down to MS62. It can be difficult to get top dollar for MS Jeffersons, I think there isn't the same number of collectors, as say Lincolns. But with the being said, it's in great shape, key date and would look great in a MS collection.

 Well I paid $0.38 for mine as part of a large set. That's a once in a lifetime deal. But, $11 is a good deal. I think it's a $40-50 coin and I like the wavy die wear. |

What is that mark at 11 o'clock on the rim? If it is just foreign matter setting on it that would be good, if it's a ding, well it sticks out to me. Anyways, I think this has the steps of 38 which would make it the more scarce type 1 for the Denver issue.
I think it is worth every nickel of $11.00, depending on that issue I mention, if it is minor this is easily worth twice to thrice the $11.00 easily.
I also think it may be around AU53 or AU55.

I see at least an AU-58 but an MS is very possible. I just can't say for sure if the high points have wear or not from the pictures. At just $11, you did very well.  |

Here is some closer pics:) Definitely a rim ding at 11:00. IMHO the cheek does have just the slightest...rub that probably keeps it from MS60. I am not sure about the '38 steps? See the pic below. What do you think? Steps of 1938 or 1940?   |
