FNQ - I would really love a 99 999999. Were they released? I believe they were. 999999 serials sell for a lot more than other solid serials, being they are the highest serial number, whereas 000000 are generally used as specimens or shreded into tiny pieces & sent off to a plastic recycling plant. Back in 1999 the following notes were possibly produced (but I can't confirm this, I might have to email Mick Vort-Ronald): $50 (5 x runs), that means there could be 200 x $50 99 999999 serials $100 (4 x runs), that means there could be 128 x $100 99 999999 serials
As for the potential of 11 111111? We will see when the statistics are released.

Although I do not collect notes, a serial number 99 999999 would be very cool! I think I read that notes do not last very long (only a few years). Would a fair proportion of 99 year notes would be gone already?

Some more stats for you. I received an email from Trevor Wilkins regarding the 99 & 11 solid serials & he believes they do exist out there. Anyway, the circulation life of an Australian Polymer note... I read something in the Good Weekend magazine about $20 notes. The question was how long would a note last in circulation? . .. ... The answer was 12 years! My belief of this is because our polymer notes don't disintegrate with water, they don't tear, they can handle more hands, more creases & on top of that, they have the best security features in the world!! At least they're my reasons for being a passionate polymer person. Ok, ozcoins, I don't believe that they'd be any of the solid 9's in 1999 left. Surely people (collectors & non-collectors) would've noticed the serial numbers & held onto them for no other reason than it looking very pretty! Stats for the notes printed in 1999: RBA's figures combined with RBA's circulation figures combined with the 2011 Vort Report states (statistically & theorectically based on figures) that there would be the following amounts of notes circulating: THE ANSWER IN A NUTSHELL IS THERE'S STILL STACKS OF 1999 POLYMERS1999 $50: 41,843,580 1999 $100: 91,189,917 I've done my own mini report (Gort Report perhaps), which showed: 11.5% of 1999 $50's (based on stating since Feb just over $45k) 38.9% of 1999 $100's (based on starting since Mar just over $25k) As for the BIG deciding answer! There would have been 200 solid 999999 $50 notes in 1999 (originally a 1 in 812,399...not cool... ) There would have been 128 solid 999999 $100 notes in 1999 (originally a 1 in 779,124...darn... ) See...now that I've done that...I need one We might have to see if we can pick up a 11 111111 this year!

It's a shame there weren't any $20, $10 or $5 released in 1999, it would have made our jobs easier. But it does mean that a 99 999999 note would be worth an absolute fortune. There would be a possible total of 328 in existence, including 2 first prefix and 2 last prefix. Imagine that - AA 99 999999

I would love the $100 JK99 999999...the last note of the century! That would be NICER than nice.
But we can't always get what we want. I was lucky enough to purchase an AA05 777777 for $500 (gVF/aEF) a little while back. I'll let you know the stats for those are very rare too. I'm not going to explain the formula because it varies alot because of the amount of notes released in a print run. $5, 14 runs = 109 $10, 10 runs = 69 $20, 12 runs = 96 $50, 13 runs = 110 $100, 5 runs = 41 So overall, there's 425 polymer first prefix solid serials (excluding specimens, which aren't legal tender anyway) As for the last prefixes: $5 = 73 $10 = 47 $20 = 72 $50 = 63 $100 = 17 So overall, there's 272 polymer first prefix solid serial's.
Likelihood? Near impossible...sorry everyone, but then again, don't give up hope. The right contacts, the right attitude & the right amount of money & you could take over the world.
One thing I've discovered recently is on the coincommunity forums...the ESC button is a bad, bad, bad button...just when you've finished typing or you're doing something on the other screen & you accidentally press ESC, you lose everything you've just typed. I've done it three times today & before today I didn't even know that it did it.

Quote: I received an email from Trevor Wilkins regarding the 99 & 11 solid serials & he believes they do exist out there. You'd have to think most of the 99's would have been found by now if released into circulation, and even if the RBA had held them back for "special releases", that they would have already been sold off. Here's hoping for the 11's (haven't seen any yet)!

I really would've liked to stumble upon one...then again if I order the first 111,111 notes from the RBA, I might be lucky enough to get one!!

Goatieman23, I am worried that if I keep reading your posts, I am going to start collecting polymer notes!

Ozcoins, start collecting...you're only ONE NOTE away!
Just don't do what I did today...don't stat small coins...I've been through 1500 x $2 coins. I'm ready to replace my brain.

Lostsean, some people may (emphasis on may) consider it a 7-digit radar, but I'd be considering it an interesting serial. If some people find the sequence of numbers that you have interesting then so be it. If it was something like DC09876789 or DC01234321 then people would be very interested in the interesting serial (which some may call a 7-digit radar) note. Keldaw2222, if you're interested in trading or selling I'm also interested in that. I think I have dibs over enworb because my intitals are CG
