Not to hijack this dino thread (there is a glass bee thread) but yes I did buy the gb. Got so excited I couldn't help myself and I bought another of the wolf too. As to where to buy one..... ebay or finding one at post office seem to be the best options right now. Even the dealers seem to be sold out.

Does any one know what the next coins in the "glow in the dark" series will look like?

If there were, they couldn't be posted or the RCM cops will come (See sticky). Dooby Rak posted pictures of those dinos a few pages back in this thread.

The fact that Gatewest is finally sold out does not bother the least because they have behaved unethically all along. I refused to buy from a company that keep jacking up the price even before it has been released or shipped to the general public. If you read the comments on the mint.ca reviews you would understand. They should have sold at the $29.99 price until sold out, like J&M Coin did. What is this backorder business when no one could have ordered from the Mint for 2 weeks. And how much could Gatewest order anyway? 500, 1000? $2000? Enough to corner the market? Look, I have no problem with them making money by selling above Mint pricing. But do it after it has been released to the general public. For those who can't get one yet, don't despair and don't pay exorbitant prices for it on ebay right now. There is still a last chance to get it at it your local box office. Local post offices that carry coins WILL have them. How many will depend on the amount they ordered. You have to look around and ask your local post offices when they will come in. Some will accept names on a list.

I don't think J&M is any better. I ordered from dinos from them and got order confirmation and everything, then they emailed the next day cancelling my order due to being out of stock. I bet they will find stock later at a higher price though.

I ordered 2 coins from Albern/Gatewest. I'll be very upset if my order is cancelled after my credit card was charged for the full amount.

Quote: They should have sold at the $29.99 price until sold out Why should a large, established, reputable dealer be forced to sell popular coins at the original issue price until its stock is depleted? So that collectors and collector-dealers can buy them in quantity and then turn around and sell them at a higher price and take home all of the profit? This just doesn't make sense in the business world. Quote: I have no problem with them making money by selling above Mint pricing. But do it after it has been released to the general public. If you saw it on the Gatewest site, it was by definition "released" to the general public. It might not have been available for immediate delivery, but it was available to be ordered. They don't post coins that are only available via the RCM's Masters Club -- they post when the RCM does its general release. If I recall correctly, each of the current "hot" coins that are now being sold at higher prices were initially available on Gatewest's site for the original RCM issue price. I saw the Titanic coins for issue price, I saw the Dinosaur for issue, the Niobium Wolf for issue, the Glass Bee for issue, etc.

While it is sold out at the Mint, it is NOT sold out at your local post office. You need to do some research and find one that will have stock and get it before it is all gone.
So, according to your train of thought, if a coin dealer is not required to sell at original prices, why are the local post offices selling them at $29.99 and not $100?
Its sold out at the Mint, so the post office can sell at whatever price they want.

@MoneyPenny: A) I live in the US and doubt my local post office has any of the coins available. B) Private dealers are in business for themselves and can charge whatever they please (and the market will bear). Dealer pricing is not tied to what Canada Post charges - they are not contractually/legally obligated to match each other's pricing. I believe, however, that Canada Post and the RCM have a different, coordinated arrangement.

In the review page for the glow-in-the dark Dino coin, 3 people said they got their orders cancelled because the mint said they oversold the coin. Anyone got an cancellation notice? Maybe now the ebay sellers who sell the pre-ordered coins at outrageous markups will get their just desserts.

That's outrageous. Firstly that it happened, secondly that it took 6 weeks to notify customers and thirdly that the mint is directing people to dealers to purchase the coin.
I ordered mine within an hour of release. If they cancel it, I may be done.
Just an aside but I recall that the Glass Bee was sold out in MC presale and then showed up for sale again the next week. Makes me wonder if the mint didn't oversell them too as a result of an error.....

I think this is why they are switching to phone only sales for items that are really close to the end. I have not had any canceled yet, luckily. I think the Mint had better get its head out of its butt and straighten up. The sad part is that its a publicly traded company now and profits will overshadow common sense. Used to be you could write some MP, but now days the Mint does not care about customer opinion, but you had better not take their coin images and use them to promote their product. I have sent many nasty email to them and I think they just get deleted. I hope they see the light soon. People are sheep but they don't like getting screwed over and over. They will just loose interest in Mint product. P.S. don't buy mint stock: Royal Canadian Mint (MNT.TO) -Toronto 18.69 Up 0.34(1.85%)
