Goatie.... That is really not your sort of thing. Its made of metal and you can not see through any of it! You should send it to Trout for safekeeping.
PS well done!

I collect some metal things...I think some people call them coins...then again I think it's about time I get one of these for my desk: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...0.m270.l1313By the way, Bryan, I love the sheild sovereigns, they're my favourites, although I would love the George V sovereigns if he had his crown on.

Hi Goatie I agree they would have looked better if he had his crown on but I assume they made them this way as they were minted for the UK and I don't think any of his coins minted there had him with his crown on.
Cheers Bryan

Nice gold there Ive got some nice notes lined up with goatie as my next big purchases but after that I'm thinking of a KGV half sovereign. Probably a common one because I don't have enough cash for others. The crowned KGV bust on Aussie coins is by far my favourite of any obverse on any coin I've ever seen. Its a shame the sovereigns dont have it. Without knowing definitively, I would say your guess as to why this bust features on the gold and not the usual Australian bust is spot on bryan.

... my "lucky charm" is a rather well used 1858 half sovereign . I like this because it is soooo Australian. Sydney Mint on the reverse. Very unique . And Queen Victoria is wearing a sprig of bottlebrush . See pics below, comparing the earlier "Sydney Mint" half sovereign with the "approved" later "pre-St George" half sovereign. Apparently the British did not like us "Colonials" putting native flora on her Majesty's head and demanded the change ! I think we have been "rebel's" from way back Squire

Nice Half Sovereign Squire I am looking at getting one of those early Sovereigns as my next gold coin purchase once I've saved up enough. Here are some more coins I purchased recently as part of my type set I am building. 1938 3d 1938 6d 1952 3d

That's OK it wasn't listed as one, I'll have a look at it through the USB gizmo when it gets here anyway
