That coin looks like it has a very odd shaped rim around the bottom, almost a flat area then a bit of a lip at the very bottom, photo illusion ? Very nice condition but it just looks funny around the IND:IMP on the obverse & under thr CRO on the reverse, anyone else see this or is it me ?

Quote: I really like the lustre of copper coins before they get toned and ugly. Its a shame we don't have a copper coins any more Neither the color nor the surface looks original. prolly cleaned.

Quote: Neither the color nor the surface looks original. prolly cleaned. I have a similar feeling, but consider a few things: - the photo/scan appears to have been taken under fairly uniform light so lustre wouldn't be evident regardless if natural or cleaned - colour isn't always accurate in photos, it could be a case of poor use of white balance e.g.: (this is a golden red coin photographed with poorly set WB - it appears to be roughly the same colour) - that grainy look on the reverse, while at first glance appears to be corrosion which has been removed, may very well be caused by over-zealous use of a photo sharpening tool. @MobOfRoos Your coin should look like this if it was a naturally red coin:

I like that 22 ha'penny better than any of the reds on the 41 days thread.

I have seen lustrous Aussie pennies look like that when photographed. I think Sel is right.

Well, just recently I have finally found the last of my "circulation" 50 cent coins from noodling my change. The South Australia "Centenary of Federation". Nice to complete it . I have attached an image. I think a lot of the coins are in good condition. In future I will check my change and try to replace the coins that are not in the best condition. Squire
