I bought some world coins froma jeweller today. Nothing special, all were $1. Three of them are canadian cents. I had to take my volume of Krause back to the library because id had it for so long and someone requested it so was wondering if you could give a rough estimate of retail value.

Dates and grades are below. Sorry for no pictures I know its hard without them but I'm just after a ballpark figure (which I know is not very much).

1918 - F - No significant rim nicks/scratches and even brown toning. 6 pearls no centre diamond.
1917 - aVF - No significant rim nicks/scratches and even brown toning. 6 pearls almost full centre diamond.
1920 - VF - No significant rim nicks/scratches and even brown toning. 6 pearls full centre diamond.

Thanks

Well according to the Charlton catalog they would be worth: 1917 = 5 dollars 1918 = 3 dollars and the 1920 = 5 dollars but in my opinion I don't believe them to be worth as much because the demand for them isn't there but for 1 dollar each it wasn't a bad buy at all!

Hi, enworb, Common date large cents, you got a good deal in them but, they aren't worth very much in those conditions.

I am trying to steer my collection in the direction of british monarchs on copper coins, particularly KGV. After the Australian KGV penny series the Canadian large cent would be second. I love the reverse! I'm going for quantity over quality to start with and am looking at a general maximum of $3 per coin. Common dates around the VF condition for less than $3 isn't too mcuh is it?

Prices shown here seem more in line with what I've been paying. :-)
