Just to be clear:your 1986 cent looks like it is missing the copper plating.The OP's coin is a 1980 which is a copper coin,also the OP's coin is very shiny as if it was plated in chrome or mercury.

Hi John - missed the OPs date. I guess it wasn't big enough in the title or I was more enamored by 'silver' . I've seen a few plated jobs at the LCS; usually evident just by visual observation (devices/details wash out). OPs coin has a similar appearance but they are distant shots and blurry.
