Was wondering just how big a Cud needs to be to bring a premium. I found a small one roll hunting over the weekend but and debating on keeping it or not as it is pretty small

if you like it keep it. General rule of thumb is Smaller the error smaller the premium. I do not collect errors so I do not know what kind of premium it has, but if I had found it I would hang on to it.

Would it be possible to post a pic of the coin? It has been my experience that any true Cud will bring some kind of premium. As Tryna said the larger the better, but even the small ones can bring $5-$10. A pic would really help verify it and give some idea as to value. Also, I would post this in the US Modern Variety and Error forum.

Here it is, and yes the reverse shows the classical light strike right where the Cud is, so it is definitely a Cud

Recently I saw some similar ones going for between $25 and $65 so definitely over $20

By the way is that penny bronze or copper plated zinc ?

Oh Man! You really should post these at the US Modern Variety and Error forum. We drool over these things in there! That Cud could go for $25-$50 (maybe more), again IMHO.

It was easier for me to move the whole thread over there.

I just sold a very similar Cud on a penny for 38 dollars on ebay. about 2 months ago.

The nickel one is 10-15$ range most likely. have sold one similar to it before.

It all depends on who is around and bidding on it, but those are roughly accurate numbers.

you can look at sold listings on ebay to get an idea also.
