Barry, have you ever tried selling any of your silver? If you sold some and then the price shot up, you would know for sure that you are jinxed!

Quote: larsdog Why the political bashing in a Precious metal forum.I never said I didn't like your current president,In fact I voted for him."Biggest mistake of my life".There I provided just as many facts as you did I was just responding to a topic two other people voiced an opinion on in this very forum. I listed presidents of both parties who were not regarded as a success in the White House that touted their business backgrounds. In my opinion, businessmen don't make good presidents and extremists don't make good policy. I wouldn't call that bashing. Just an opinion. I don't know what you mean by your last comment. I was simply voicing an opinion on a topic SOMEONE ELSE brought up that relates to the economy which affects PM prices. Simple as that.

What, sell my silver? Are you INSANE?
On the bright side, silver did eventually shoot back up and is now significantly higher than it was when I made my latest purchase, so I feel better...

Maybe so, Barry, but your "canary in the coal mine" status is in severe jeopardy because of this. I mean, after all, YOU bought and THEN it went UP? Holy cow! What next?

Well, I'm still waiting for it to go higher than it was when I bought my two monster boxes of silver, so that should count for something....

But if it goes higher then you may not want to buy more! A double edge sword

But you know that this is a tough crowd, right? There's a lot of "yeah, but what have you done lately" type questions in here! Quote: I still say the feds can't keep the world running on funny money forever sooner or later it will all fall apart and PM will hit the roof. I would agree with that, Bruce... and welcome back! Quote: I like real money PM are real money and I feel secure owning some of it. Yes, indeed. Many of us on here feel the very same way. I love the solid feel of a Morgan silver dollar. It is a beautiful coin with a solid heft to it and when it is flipped smartly into the air, it will ring like a bell. None of the clad junk that passes for coin money these days is anything like that.

None of the clad junk that passes for coin money these days is anything like that. Gotta agree with you there! I'm not stacking, but I do follow the price of silver since I'm purchasing several 40% and 90% items. When I started my Dansco 7070 I dumped out a small bag of junk silver I've had for many years to fill a few of the newer 90% silver spots. I had forgotten that sound! Back in the 80s I bought a full bag ($1000 face) of 90% silver half dollars (Kennedy and Franklin). There was something intoxicating about the sound of pouring 2000 90% silver halves out on the kitchen table!

Sorry to hear that you had to sell it but a guy does what he has to do when he has to do it. What a terrific addition that would be to a silver hoard today... over $20k worth of silver coins!

Yes it is too bad the PM couldn't be kept. There is something very special about those silver coins kept from when I was a child!

Exactly so, Angel. I still have about a dozen coins from when I was a child. They are important to me because of their history even if their actual monetary value is low. The "good stuff" was all acquired over the past couple of years.
