Personally I would like to see more coins made with designs that call a spade a spade.

The 9-11 coin really was just a terrible design over all and didnt even come close to justifying what it was supposed to represent. The mint has made many many fine commemorative coins but this was not one of them.

Also as a side note I would be willing to bet more people would buy these coins if they knew about them. Unless you are on the mint mailing list or stumble across them most people have no clue they even exist

I work for a defense contractor and I support the troops. Sorry but I don't glorify war. Shame on you, basebal!

Nice article.

The US Mint does a poor job on notifying the general public on what they mint.

Like others have said, unless you are on their mailing list or goto their web site, you never know what they are minting. And the military coins usually do pretty well on people buying them.

Yea you just want to make partisan hack political statements talking about coins that have nothing to do with politics instead. Realizing the importance of history and honoring those that served during it is far from glorifying it but no point in trying to tell that to someone like you.

Save your political comments for your MSNBC board and please refrain from commenting on my posts in the future as I will no longer respond to you. If there was an ignore feature I would use it

The fact that the commentary of the article is about the political aspect of the article says more than I can.

That aside, and to the COIN related issue here, YES, the one criticism of the mint I can agree 100% with is that they do a truly poor job of advertising beyond the bounds of current collectors. And even then only those of us who are actively ordering from the mint or reading coin mags would have known about this coin. More than caving to whining about limited issues, THIS is a change the mint needs to enact.

I ranted about that God awful piece of junk 9-11 commem when they released the images of it. I hope I run across some in circulation so I can melt the darn things.

I do not think a warning will work this time so I am going to end this before it gets uglier.

With apologies to cc.
