hey guys, by the time silver and gold fails. The leading nations of the world including the United States, China, the UK just to name the top dawgs would be in a currency crisis which means no jobs, no food, no police, just chaos. We wouldn't want that to happen eh?, the government don't want that nor do banks. By this time, everyone already KNOWS about the market value of silver and its popularity currently. In addition, popular inspirators who had inspired us all such as Mike Maloney and Robert Kiyosaki are obviously the middleman of distributing gold and silver, they advertise silver to make a living for themselves.
In simpler terms, we're all too late.
So keep working hard, earn yo Benjamins, buy that land, that Mustang, and that gold (its a justified metal and is not available to everyone in the world). Currently, in the news I read about Zimbabweans panning out gold dust that lands on their roofs during wind storms in surrounding mine dumps. (its more valuble).
If ya give them some silver, they'd consider it not valuable immediately.
If you have a 100oz door stop of silver, and the price hits $4000, who's going to buy it to get you some food for your family, would it be rather used as a weapon (a brick) instead? LOL
Silver is geologically abundant in the earths crust and dirt, but its advertised as being physically less abundant above ground because of its industrial applications, well we could just mine more.
but GOLD is hella rare. its been panned, buried by ancient soldiers and swordsmen, gifted to the royals. Its steady and unvolatile in price too, as you guys can see in its graph, it just shows a steady line instead of a zigzag scary pattern.

I like Gold (its justified as a safe haven for many years), Copper is Cool (it fosters economic growth), Silver is a Joke and a Temporary Trend.

So, what are your thoughts on silver?

I don't have time to elaborate, but silver, and gold, have been used for $ for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. You can't deny history..

I actually read somewhere that silver is rarer than gold. I can't comment on the authenticity of the report, of course. But silver's no joke, of that I am certain.

Do I want the dollar to fail? Of course not. As you mentioned, the downsides are just to great (unless, I suppose, I owned some ungodly amount of silver like a million ounces).

I collect silver for two main reasons. The first is as a long-term investment, something I hope to be able to spend in my retirement years or pass down to my son someday. The second is just in case the dollar does fail. I don't want the dollar to fail, but if it does I would rather have some silver to spend than not have any, even if it only delays the inevitable for awhile.

Gold will always be the precious metal that backs currency. But Silver will soon be as valuable as gold. Read the above article.

So forget $100 silver -- $100 is now considered a timid prediction. Some experts are now calling for silver prices to be on par with gold!

We won't see $100 silver this year but within my life time I'm sure.

Another good read:

I can't imagine being a precious metal investor and not owning gold and silver. Dollar for dollar I own far more ounces of silver than gold. I also have cash and stocks. The only true way to protect your self is diversification.

Is this a troll, or you looking for an educated debate?

BTW No one ever killed a vampire with a gold bullet.

Center Pin,

I believe you might be thinking of werewolves. "Stick" with a nice pointy stake as your weapon of choice against vamps. Your post made me think of an old comedy movie from 1979 called Love at First Bite, starring George Hamilton. The antagonist unsuccessfully tried killing the vampire by shooting him multiple times with silver bullets. Funny movie.

I'm with Center Pin's first statement. From that subject line to that text to the assertion that silver's a joke to the ultimate question? Sounds like someone in WA just took advantage of Chapter 69.51A or I'm on a Yahoo! stock message board. Hardly worth an intelligent reply, except perhaps to point out that in the Why Do You Collect Coins thread, the OP states, "I only care about finding silver coin and collecting silver bullion." Yep, there's a joke in that post somewhere.

I love it every time the silver bullet issue comes up and it is used in reference to vampires instead of the correct connection of werewolf's rof....

Wooden stakes to the heart kill vampires, jeeeez. They don't like garlic, an prefer an invitation, an their image is non presence in a mirror, hence their hollow shell of a soulless body, lol....

The original vampire killing kits from Europe usually consisted of wooden stakes an other vampire killing tools, while you may have had a crossbow with silver bolts or an old musket pistol loaded with silver shot for the werewolf's, via two birds with one stone eh....

Oh wait you are right jokingjoker, what was this topic about anyway?

Oh well as it has taken a much more logical course, as silver being thought of as joke is a joke IMO for now....

Now it bottoms out at 5 bucks per oz. an stays there till 2030 I will indeed jump on the band wagon, an who knows SD you may be right, we will see....

jokingjoker,

And Wesley Snipes is in prison Silver slaying vamps is simply not canon. LOL. It's like seeing vampires walking around in broad daylight in some movies and TV shows nowadays. Come one now! That's ridiculous.

Yep. Not only that, Hawk, but it MUST be a particular kind of wood in that stake to be effective... some sort of mountain alder or some such. Just any old wood will not do the deed. If it did, vampire slayers would be armed with bows and arrows.

I'm with Barry on this and for most of the same reasons. Silver is a store of value. Fiat currency is GUARANTEED to lose purchasing power by at least the amount of inflation that occurs each year. All part of "the game", you see.

Absolutely. The adults among us are well aware of the fact that what we want often has very little to do with what actually happens. I am sure that my parents and grand parents did not want the US economy to collapse in the 1930s but it did anyway... and there was absolutely nothing good that came out of it. Bad times for everyone... even the notorious banksters fell upon bad times as many banks failed.

And after they fell, many of them landed on the sidewalk at the bottom of their highrise offices.
