Modern silver proof runs, the State Quarters look impressive in a 12"x12" Capital holder made just for them. Ever see a run of silver Kennedy proofs from 1992-2011? It's impressive and many of the modern silver quarters and halves can be had at near melt values. I used to really like 1952-1964 BU quarters, back in the day when they could be bought for $1.50 or $2.00 each. Moderns are great, but you have to be really dedicated clad collector to specialize in them. Clean gemmy easy 65/66 ATB circulation quarters might the next "hot" area, too.

In the words of head teller at my local bank I hoard "funny money" and am not afraid to ask her for it when I stop in. She knows what I'm talking about, but from the looks of other customers they don't (which is fine with me). Her definition of funny money is Ike's, Susan B's, Sacs, Half dollars, Presidential dollars(sometimes), and $2 bills. I search quarters to fill up my Statehood Quarter album and whatever I don't need I save to fund family gambling trips.

CopperCoins I have also been setting the Presidential reverse whenever I find them in circulation. I agree the ones with the Presidential Reverse are also very hard to come by.

I started years ago collecting the 1981 type 2 SBA in the higher graded conditions and also enjoyed searching rolls for 1979near date SBA . Searched and kept the ones in bu condition. Maybe worth something some day.

PCGS MS-65 or better copper clad Ikes. Just go out and see how many you can find.

The new series of Lincoln pennies. I think that now is the time to put together the uncirculated rolls. It really doesn't cost a lot to put together these rolls. Who knows what the future will hold for these coins.

Interesting thread. I have no knowledge here whatsoever, so this was very informative. I'm collecting Kennedy halves and finding the 82 and 83 in high grade is proving tough. Anyone else think these are worth hoarding if I find nice examples?

Thank you for all great knowledge that everyone have shared. I don't necessarily agree with everyone's list but quite a few of coins from each person fit my thought such as 2009 zincolns, coins of the 80s in general, especially 82 and 83 (I have close to $100 face of 82 zincoln in BU.... I still need to sort out).
I will print this out for reference. Thank you everyone.

Hello,
I do not know if silver Roosies are considered modern but I would hoard these as well as any silver coin that can be acquired for a reasonably competitive price.
I realize that this thread is not about silver pricing trends but I personally feel that from a % increase perspective silver(Ag) has the greatest possibility to exponentially increase increase when the inevitable negative effects of inflation kick in once the presidential election terminates.
Apparently silver is scarce and the price of corn, for example, is expected to go through the roof because of the recent mid west drought.
Price increases in commodities generally tend to also increase prices in precious metals.
If one has much silver on hand when these projected upward pricing trends fully materialize, cashing in one's silver hoard will produce more available cash to purchase desired coins etc.
IMHO, mdpmedia
