That's a very nice presentation by Heritage and should serve as strong confirmation that submitting to them was the right choice. The reverse looks amazing. The "likely recovered from soil" phrase is interesting. Anyway, I'll be watching as well and hoping for a high hammer price to make this story even better than it already is.

Well geez man....I'm not GIVING it away. I need the money, and as far as taxes go there is no better time to sell it.....I'm currently unemployed. Furthermore, I'm not really a coin collector, I'm a treasure hunter. The thrill is in finding the item....not keeping it. I hope someday to find an item worthy of a museum.

Hey why would the coin description say grade "AU50" but the holder just says AU?

The description always contains a numeric grade even if the coin doesn't have one. If it was "MS Details" it would be MS60 in the description, or "XF Details" would be XF40 in the description.

Joe this is friggen awesome! I like the title "treasure hunter" lol it conjures up images of old tea stained maps, compasses and pots of gold lol. What are some other notable treasures you've found?

Hey guys, I was hoping I could get your opinions on this letter I received today from Heritage. What do you think, is this worth it? would you spend the $500 bucks?
Hi Joseph,
We think your 1870-cc 50C in the Philadelphia AugustSignature Auction is a great candidate for a Video Lot Description, which weoffer for the top and most important items in an auction. For suchvaluable and special coin, the Video Lot Description (VLD) is an opportunity toexpress that added importance to bidders. The VLD is a video of one ofour experts expounding on the merits of the coin. It is posted on the lotdescription on the website. We see regularly a 10% to 20% increase in pricesachieved for lots with a VLD. At a cost of just $500- which is deductedfrom the proceeds of the sale at settlement - even one extra bid will pay forthe VLD. I have attached a link for you to view a past auction with aVLD.

Personally, I think it's a great idea!! IMO, the more visibility this coin gets, the higher the bids.

And the cost comes out of the final payment, so you don't have to fork it over now!

I am by no means an expert on this at all.. But I am an expert at the art of a sale in general. I think this is no necessary and I feel--it by all means is absolutely NOT necessary. I want to point out the following thoughts, which please correct me if I'm wrong, those of you who have better knowledge and past dealings with heritage.

-they want as badly as you do for the price realized to
Be as high as possible, why wouldn't they incur the cost.

-those bidding on this item already know its heritage no pun intended.

-of the amount of auctions having utilized this video service, I am sure is safe to say, exponentially grows their revenue increase figures, as I am sure it has a very limited amount of productions all of which I am sure have been on coins that play on par with yours.

I can go on and on....
