I would say the one on the left looks 'smaller'

I'd say the one on the right has larger digits, and while in better shape, has a mushier star. What are we getting at?

Get some calipers and give us the dimensions. Weight would help too. Bigger is measurable eyes can fool you. Just saying.

The one on the left is suffering some PMD to the left rim.

Why not simply put 1 coin on top of the other. if there is a size difference it will become immediately apparent

The one on the left is struck from a later die state die. The devices are reaching the rim area. It is also a slight amount of MAD which would also make the devices closer to the rim area. Die wear is not a good thing. Give me an EDS coin and I'm much more happy than a coin struck from a worn die/over polished die. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
