I bought this coin early April. It still has not arrived, so the seller and I have wrote it off as a loss. He refunded my money. Of course, if it miraculously shows up later I will rewire him the money. However, I am very dissapointed. This coin was awesome and it would have been my first Hadrian. in PA.

Believe me, I found out how losing coins feels as well. I lost two packages in a row! I hate it!
I'm fairly certain my coins were stolen in the mail system somewhere.
I've heard of coins getting stuck in customs for a long time. It's also possible the coins could be at the post office. It's a long shot and one that I decided to take after losing some coins. I called lots of places to find out what happened. I never recovered them though. You might want to look into it if you haven't already.

I recently loss one in the mail also. Makes you wonder if some people working at te Post Office are snagging the coins for themselves. Sorry for your loss, it would have made a nice addition to any collection.

Just out of curiosity, from where was the coin coming? As mush as I think our postal workers here in the U.S. can be lazy, by in large I believe them to be honest (always a bad egg somewhere). I'm not so certain about some other countries. Sorry for the loss of the coin. For you, you can hunt another. For the seller, it's a complete loss.

Sorry to hear about the lost coins. A couple months ago I bought a decentius two victories reverse that still hasn't arrived yet. This will be the first coin I have lost in the mail but I was being cheap and didn't feel like paying the extra shipping for registered mail so it's partly my fault. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the responses...and condolences. I bought this coin on the 15th of April. I bought another coin from the same seller (who lives in the Netherlands) on the 6th of May. The second coin arrived last week, with no sign of the first. That is what tipped me off to the first having been lost in transit.
Oh, and if anyone was wondering...this Hadrian cost $25.50 shipped. I guess that makes it hurt more; it was such a good deal!

A few months back, I purchased three coins from an ebay seller in Winschoten, Netherlands and never received the coins. Of course I was refunded the money. I wonder if it is the Netherlands mail service, USPS or is it the dealer. Of course I don't know who your seller was, but if it turns out to be the same, there may be problems with him.

Yeah JW that is the same seller! I am gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say it is an employee at the Netherlands Mail Service who knows what he ships out. Since I got one of those two coins I do not think he tries to cheat people, especialy since he is so good at returning your payment promptly.

Decades ago, I have had ancient gold coins sent across the Planet from London.
Perhaps the international postal service was more reliable then.

Just a thought but maybe he wasn't all that happy about getting "hosed" on this coin and used the "lost in the mail excuse" as a way out of the deal

Quote: Just a thought but maybe he wasn't all that happy about getting "hosed" on this coin and used the "lost in the mail excuse" as a way out of the deal That was what I was thinking. The three coins I purchased at auction were at uncommonly good prices. I was very disappointed when they did not arrive; however, I have not noticed any of these same coins for sale again on his site. So perhaps I should be more like ancientcoinguy and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about what happened. Don't worry, just think of the many more nice coins out there that you will come across and obtain in the future. That's what I remind myself when I lose an auction or find that a coin had already been purchased. So far I haven't had a coin get lost in the mail (knock on wood), but I feel like my luck is going to run out soon lol Hopefully it won't, but it's still a nagging feeling.

Things get missplaced sometimes eh just like one time I was travelling from France back to montreal and one of my luggages took off to Italy instead. It took a while to recover it. So the same can happen with packages too. I have had coins lost for months in the mail then later popping up in my mail box. So I think most probably this is a Late and not Lost case.
