Where are you located in the states? Would love to discuss strategy, I just went through 48 boxes and have another 48 on the way.

Owassokie, I mean Bank Roll by having thousands of dollars to have tied up in coins. I would think anyone who CRHs that has that type of cash would be doing as much as they can without ruining anything. I'd prefer to not say how I do everything exactly, but I will say the way I tackle it ensures that everyone at the bank is happy and doesn't have a problem with it, and my procedure doesn't burn any bridges. , one of my main banks OFFERS to take the coins back when I am done with them! Not that I would ever do that, but you get the point. I've been doing volume for two months now with no problems. It's a great hobby. INGODWETRUST, email me. Email address removed by Forum Mom.

Cool post! I agree that searching goes very quickly if you are just unwrapping and bagging the coins. 10 to 15 minutes per box, depending on what you are finding sounds about right. I would imagine, with the volume you do, it wont take long before you start seeing the same coins again. I'm a volume hunter myself: 4 to 6 boxes of halves per week and roughly 10 boxes of nickels per week. What part of the country are you in?

I do primarily halves. I think my current count is 24 boxes, and I do look for errors as well as silver.
I have to time to do more, but I do not have the ability to dump larger volumes. I spread my few boxes per week out across different branches of a bank I also do business with but do not order from. Even with a long time relationship at my dump chain, I still get the dreaded looks from the tellers when they see me bringing in my halves.
BTW, donuts and gift cards never hurt the ordering bank. In my case, I like the tellers so giving a bit back is something I like to do now and then when I can swing it.

That's Nuts! To learn that people here can consistently pick-up / return $24 to $30k in Half dollars each week is amazing. With those types of numbers even 0.001% find is decent (60 coins per week).
What I'd be interested in learning is what is the most you order / return from a given bank.

The most I have ordered in one week is $2000 which equaled four boxes of five hundred dollars each.
As I recall, I took two weeks to do them correctly but now my process has been a bit refined and I can go through two boxes easily within a week.

It's just mind boggling. I feel like many people here could potentially bank roll a higher level of CRHing, but the problem usually comes from returning the volume.
I'll admit I've been very lazy in looking for ways to increase the amount I search. But this is the second Coin Forum where I've seen multiple people sorting vast quantities. Perhaps it's time to rev up the process a little.

I wouldn't recommend volume hunting unless you have a solid plan set in stone, and you have already talked everything over with the banks you will be doing business with. Once you figure it out, returning coins isn't the problem. The problem is that 99% of people don't have $10-$20 g's to do this with.

Another way some may volume search more coins with less capital is to have the bank order a large volume of coins and allow you to go through a certain amount before retrieving the remaining coins.
Now, unless you have a very nice bank, it is not likely they will hold large volumes for long. Yet, in certain cases, I think it can become possible. One time I ordered $2000 and took $1000 one week and the second installment later. Granted, this is not the $10,000 to $20,000 version, but my area is not a place like Charlotte, Atlanta, Houghton, Dallas, or the like.
In larger venues, larger amounts might be possible using the model I have mentioned.

^^ Most bank vaults capacity is about 2-5 boxes. In my experience, anything 5 and over has to be picked up within the hour of it being delivered (it is kept out next to the lead teller, and not in the vault,) otherwise it is shipped back out. Not that you would ever want to order more than about 1 to 4 boxes per branch for risk of getting shut down fast.

I would never say anything in this hobby is set in stone. Bank employee's change, armored couriers change, personal finances change, and each may influence your ability to CRH.
I think I could possibly get up to around 20k a week, but I don't know where i'd return them.
CRHStreet, do you bring back rolls or bags? Since you said you search a box in 10minutes, I'm thinking you take a box cutter to the roll, fold over look and repeat. Am I right?

crhstreetwalker, Can you tell us where you are located? I assume it is NYC ... you can't spit without hitting a bank here and I have often thought it is a great place to start volume hunting. My experience is the same as you guys - anything more than 4 boxes a week and the tellers start to back off on ordering for me. And, I agree, crhstreetwalker, you need at least 10k to invest in volume hunting and I don't have that kind of cash.
